Situated Advantageously in Provo, Utah, Store Continues Company’s 2019 Growth Spree
PITTSBURGH – Damon Wood and his wife Michelle Wood first ventured 250 miles to Bruster’s Real Ice Cream to try premium ice cream. And after seeing its creation in the stores where it is served, the two began a plan: to make ice cream their living.
“After almost 20 years of teaching World History in high school, and my wife in marketing, we decided to use our degrees to open up a business,” Wood said. “For us it was all about the flavors. Bruster’s was the best tasting ice cream we’d ever had but we liked the family atmosphere equally as much. We decided to go for it.”
These first-time franchisees now own a picturesque spot at 2255 University Parkway, Provo, UT 84604. Set in between several academic institutions, customers can get a great view of the mountains while also treating themselves to premium, handcrafted ice cream. Bruster’s in Provo has more than 1,000 square feet of space, a colossal patio and several windows.
“On behalf of Bruster’s, we’re elated to welcome Damon and his family to the organization,” said CEO Jim Sahene. “At a corporate level we talk a lot about opening one great store at a time and that’s what Damon has done in Provo. We can’t wait to introduce our customers in Utah to treats that are A Scoop Above the Rest and are proud our selection of stores continues to grow.”
Bruster’s Real Ice Cream has an acute understanding of the opportunity that exists for the organization and is solidifying its investment in new stores with several openings later this year including Athens, Georgia, Bowie, Maryland and Austin, Texas. The company also has sites under agreement and construction in California, South Carolina, Ohio, Nevada, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Bruster’s will also open its ninth international store when Guyana introduces a third location next year.
Featured flavors this month include Lemon Blueberry Cake and refreshing Key Lime Pie. Lemon Blueberry Cake is a new flavor launch comprised of lemon ice cream, blueberry swirl and pound cake pieces while Key Lime Pie, often referred to as one of Bruster’s best, incorporates complimentary essences of key lime ice cream with graham cracker swirls.
